AID TO ARTISANS: Inspiring, innovative, and sustainable, Aid to Artisans is an organization that creates economic opportunities for artisan groups globally. Aid to Artisans provides market access, business training and product development for artisan groups, creating an infrastructure that continues to support the artisan community where livelihoods, communities, and craft traditions are marginal or at risk.

ATA understands how critical it is to create new products that will appeal to the market and it is their job to provide market access and ensure that production methods are eco-effective. In addition, they train artisans to be entrepreneurial in order to remain competitive in the global marketplace. ATA is widely known for providing the most current and up-to-date market information. Aid to Artisans does not only connect talented craftsmen to market-savvy designers, they ensure that their relationships continue to grow well beyond their involvement with the organization.

On today’s CGC Spotlight, we love to share our admiration for designer, Kate Spade who collaborated with the Women for Women International in order to sustain for employment for women in war-torn Kosovo, Rwanda and Afghanistan. Opportunities in these countries are scarce due to the harsh conditions they go through during the war. Kate Spade’s Hand in Hand Collection is a range of hand-knit accessories in order to provide for these unfortunate women.
Women for Women International supports and provides for women whose lives has been devastated by the war. These women have not only been struggling physically, they are also emotionally wounded of trauma cause by the war. Women for Women International provides for eight countries including Afghanistan, Iraq, Kosovo, Nigeria and Rwanda. As an organization they believe that “lasting change can only be achieved when women have access to both knowledge and resources.”

Charlie Gardner Collection wanted to empower the youth. Tory Burch, however, wanted to empower women.
Tory Burch isn’t just a fashion designer. Unlike many other women, Tory carries the responsibilities of a mother and an entrepreneur. She wanted to create change by empowering economically-challenged women.
The Tory Burch Foundation was launched in 2009 as a non-profit organization that provides economic opportunity to women and their families in the United States. She believed that this would be one of the most effective ways to make a change. Under Tory Burch’s lead, The Tory Burch Foundation helps women access financial tools which helps improve their lives.
Recent studies show that women, especially mothers, have also been disproportionately affected by the recent crisis.
Not only that, but they are also most likely to face higher levels of financial discrimination. These terrible statistics proves that poor working mothers often cannot meet their or their family’s basic needs, which is food, shelter, clothing or an education.
We love Tory because of her selfless act. Basing from her experiences, she understands the struggle these women have to go through in order to provide or even just to be a mother that they ought to be.
